Blu-ray player update

So last night I download and installed the BDP-S350 firmware update……..in addition to improving Java BD compatibliity and BD-live stuff, they added the function for the Blu-ray player to be in a standby mode…so it would never have to fully shut off and you wouldn’t have to wait for it to come back on, although the notice does warn it uses more electricity and the fan will be in use at times when in standby, so you can choose either the normal startup or a Quick Start.  There have been little changes here and there though with the player’s main menu some icons are different, in system settings it has added whether or not you want the player to automatically connect to the internet for BD-live content, which is cool. It took 15 minutes to install and I can tell some of the improvements. So if you have a BDP-S350, go and download.

Update: 9/26: Looks like the BDP-S350 update has been pulled, there is no reason yet but it is prolly due to technical issues that people were having with the update…although the update worked for me, obvisuly for some people it didn’t work. More details as I get them.

Brendan, did they pull the update? The engadgetHD link goes to a dead page and a search for BDP-S350 firmware only turns up the 007 july firmware.
